Soroptimist International of Benicia is looking for a young woman with the right stuff. The Violet Richardson Award is presented to a woman between 14 and 17 who is caring, compassionate, creative, and most of all, committed to making the world a better place. She must demonstrate initiative in both identifying a problem and in trying to solve it, and must have made a significant and noteworthy accomplishment as a volunteer.  An award of $500 is presented to the winner, along with a $500 donation to the charitable organization of her choice.

The Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award is named for the first president of Soroptimist. Applications are accepted until December 1.  Organizations or persons interested in nominating a candidate should contact Leslie Lessenger at benicia.soroptimist@gmail.com or 751.0289.
