Benicia Unified School District

Get Involved

Benicia Unified School District encourages parents to get involved at their student’s school site. Board Policy 1240 and Regulation 1240 state the qualifications and strategies for volunteers. For the safety of all students, we want to clarify BUSD’s protocol for parents and family members attending field trips/events.

Any parent, guardian, and/or family member who attends a field trip, in any capacity (chaperone, visitor, etc.), must be fingerprinted and cleared as a volunteer, even if you will not be directly supervising students. If you are not fingerprint-cleared through BUSD, you will not be able to attend field trips. Please know, once you are fingerprinted and as long as you don’t leave our District, you do not have to be fingerprinted again; it is good until your child(ren) exit(s) 12th grade.

Additionally, please remember for safety and liability purposes, non-student siblings are not permitted to be in classrooms when their parent volunteers.

To be cleared as a school volunteer, you must provide the following:

  • TB clearance
  • Fingerprints-once completed good for BUSD through 12th grade
  • Proof of vehicle insurance if driving on field trips

We love our volunteers and chaperones, and could not do what we do without you.  Thank you for your understanding in this important safety matter.   A volunteer form is available below and at all of our school sites.
