Message From the Principal

Dear Parents,
Welcome to Robert Semple Elementary named after one of Benicia's Founders.  Robert Semple is a K-5 school with 440 students that has successfully served the community for more than 50 years.  Robert Semple won the title California Distinguished School Award in 1998 in recognition of its outstanding staff, excellent educational program, motivated students, involved parents and its commitment to excellence.
The staff values high academic achievement, encourages creativity and helps children develop an enthusiasm for learning.  There is a commitment to the success of all children and every child is valued and appreciated.  We believe every student can be successful given the support they need.  Our staff believes that children must learn to be good citizens who show respect for others.
We believe that parents are our partners in the educational process and value the involvement and support of our families.  Together we can achieve great things for our children.
Our Safe School Plan that was created by parents, teachers, and administrators, focuses on creating a school where children can learn in a safe and nurturing environment.  We have set clear behavioral expectations and instituted disciplinary policies that are consistently and fairly administered.  We also accord recognition for positive behavior.
The purpose of this handbook is to give you the information you will need to help your child be successful in school and to answer the basic questions most parents have about a school.  This handbook is intended to last for three years.  Please put it in a safe place.  We will update only the staff list and the calendar each year.  If we can be of further assistance or if you have questions, please call us at 747-8360.
